Thanks Jim for correcting the error.

If you have a physical NIC card , then you could go ahead and test it on your computer without VM.

If you do not have the physical NIC card, which supports DPDK, then it might be hard to emulate the hardware in qemu.

Please let me know if you happens to know some qemu which could do DPDK based NIC emulation.

Thanks,

Hello there,

We expect to install REC on the server for testing (Model: ALPS-7400, Vendor: Adlink, CPU: Intel Xeon CPU). At present, when downloading the installation files, I found that there are two image files bootcd.iso and install.iso(https://nexus.akraino.org/content/repositories/images-snapshots/TA/release-1/images/latest/ <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__nexus.akraino.org_content_repositories_images-2Dsnapshots_TA_release-2D1_images_latest_&d=DwMFog&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=HBNonG828PGilNRNwXAtdg&m=wVrpGXZLlnttAK54oVhO07GPwv-Gw9SedhQkdwk34hs&s=WAIPqx-qsXgE4iovQ58lS3VgxRcsYUxiBRb6LspffVQ&e=> ), which file should I use?

In addition, in the Nexus download space, we found that the install.iso file could not be downloaded or the download will be terminated when it reaches a certain level. We are a wonder that the file is exist now?

Another question is about Build 9 and Build 237,According to the following instructions(https://wiki.akraino.org/display/AK/REC+Installation+Guide#RECInstallationGuide-Pre-InstallationRequirementsforRECCluster <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wiki.akraino.org_display_AK_REC-2BInstallation-2BGuide-23RECInstallationGuide-2DPre-2DInstallationRequirementsforRECCluster&d=DwMFog&c=LFYZ-o9_HUMeMTSQicvjIg&r=HBNonG828PGilNRNwXAtdg&m=wVrpGXZLlnttAK54oVhO07GPwv-Gw9SedhQkdwk34hs&s=34JcJKxziVAPTJ1OciM97_3YkqzldviSrNxhL9wd0dk&e=>  ), we can know to Build 237 that REC has improved on Dell Server and Open Edge. What if we are not using the server that recommended by the website, can we install with REC?

Sincerely,

Andy

I am not aware of any virtual machine (qemu or virtualbox) , which supports dpdk right now.

Thus, there might be a problem with testing through VMs.

Edge sessions at the upcoming virtual PTG event

Ildiko Vancsa <ildiko@...>

Hi Akraino Community,

I’m reaching out to you about the upcoming virtual PTG[1] event that is a developer focused event for communities supported by the OpenStack Foundation. During the sessions at the PTGs we are suing etherpads to take notes about the ongoing discussions. Our focus is on interactive sessions with discussions about active work items to identify next steps and do short and mid-term planning.

As part fo the event the OSF Edge Computing Group[2] is meeting on three consecutive days to discuss reference architectures, testing activities and cross-project and cross-community collaboration related matters.

According to our current plans the group’s schedule is the following:

* Monday (June 1) 1400 UTC - 1600 UTC: Reference Models and Architectures
* Tuesday (June 2) 1300 UTC - 1500 UTC: Testing
* Wednesday (June 3) 1300 UTC - 1600 UTC: Cross-project/community collaboration
* 1300 UTC - 1400 UTC: Focus on OpenStack projects
* 1400 UTC - 1500 UTC: Focus on OSF projects including Airship and StarlingX
* 1500 UTC - 1600 UTC: Focus on adjacent communities

As there are a couple of blueprints in Akraino that focus on the infrastructure and integrate OSF projects I think it is a great opportunity for those of you who are interested to join and participate in the discussions above. We are reserving the last slot on Wednesday to coordinate cross-community interactions where needed.

We are building our agenda and collecting talking points on this etherpad: https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/ecg_virtual_ptg_planning_june_2020
Please feel free to add further topics to the etherpad. Please also add your name next to your item so we know who would be describing the topic and lead the discussions during the sessions.

You can find the full PTG agenda here: https://www.openstack.org/ptg/

__Please register[3] for the event in case you are interested in participating.__

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hi everyone,

Sending this to technical-discuss since I can’t send it to main and this is the only one with enough members apart from ptl list.

I’ve come across a problem in Akraino JIRA. I have created two stories in JIRA that cannot be loaded on the browser (they just time out).

Who can I contact to delete or fix these stories? This is not something a project owner in JIRA can fix as they face the exact same issue.

Thanks,

Best regards,

Dear Community,

Hello there,

We expect to install REC on the server for testing (Model: ALPS-7400, Vendor: Adlink, CPU: Intel Xeon CPU). At present, when downloading the installation files, I found that there are two image files bootcd.iso and install.iso(https://nexus.akraino.org/content/repositories/images-snapshots/TA/release-1/images/latest/), which file should I use?

In addition, in the Nexus download space, we found that the install.iso file could not be downloaded or the download will be terminated when it reaches a certain level. We are a wonder that the file is exist now?

Another question is about Build 9 and Build 237,According to the following instructions(https://wiki.akraino.org/display/AK/REC+Installation+Guide#RECInstallationGuide-Pre-InstallationRequirementsforRECCluster ), we can know to Build 237 that REC has improved on Dell Server and Open Edge. What if we are not using the server that recommended by the website, can we install with REC?

Akraino community call today - any topics?

Tapio Tallgren

Hi,

Unless I am mistaken, there are no presentations for the Akraino Community Call today. Unless someone objects, I will cancel the meeting.

It should always be backward compatible with lower versions, as the middle layer k8s and VMMs are backward compatible.

Dear community,

I plan to install Akraino on Adlink H/W CSA-7400, and would like to know if kernel 4.14.35 is OK??

The reason I am asking is to make sure   H/W component  driver   will be compatible with the REC installation ISO image,

which contains  CentOS 7.6 with LTS Kernel 4.14, according to REC installation document  .

Sincerely,

Frank
